The 2014 and 2015 WRX. Are these the pre-production photos?

Seeing that Subaru is notoriously tight-lipped about their cars, when those cars will come out, and what they will look like, these photos I have found online have little to no weight behind them. However, these pictures do get you thinking and they do look remarkably accurate or at least they COULD be accurate.

First up we have the 2014 WRX seen on a Subaru of Canada saleswoman’s Subaru blog. As you can see, this remains largely unchanged on the exterior. Interior specs were not given, but this site is confirming that Plasma Blue Pearl is not longer offered as a color and the head units will now be compatible with XM radio. I like this look of WRX so I’m pleased if this is the stop-gap before the new model comes out. The blog also confirms that the 2014s will be in dealers mid to late September. This is also Subaru of Canada, so this is not for the US markets. Or it may be based on proximity.

Next, we have what I believe is the closest rendering to the 2015 WRX I’ve seen to date. The Subaru Concept that was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show this past April is absolutely breath-taking and we can see some of the styling pulling forward in this shot. Most notably in the headlights and front grille. This is a more aggressive look for the WRX, but isn’t a huge deviation from the older model and I think that’s a wonderful thing. I really love the current WRX and seeing this gets me all giddy for what the new model will actually look like.

Remember all you Subaru fans, all this is pure speculation at this point. Fuji Heavy Industries has not made an official announcement and based on the spy shots from the test mule, it could look bland, boring, and underwhelming. It also was rumored to not have a hatch variant, yet we have a picture of one above. Who knows, but I cannot wait. What are your thoughts on these two pictures? Love ’em? Hate ’em?
