Acura MDX To Debut At 2016 New York International Auto Show

While we are patiently waiting for the 2016 New York International Auto Show to grace the Jacob K Javits Convention Center in late March, details are finally trickling in on the show’s major reveals. A totally brand new, re-engineered and re-designed Acura MDX will be making its debut next month. The luxury mid-size three row SUV that currently shares a platform with the Honda Pilot, is seen in this teaser artist render showcasing a more prominent Acura grill. If the sketch is any indication, we should expect an edgier and more muscular form that resembles a mix of the Range Rover Evoque with a Four-Door Coupe SUV proportions of the BMW X6 Sport Activity Coupe.

John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co. mentions

We are sharpening our focus on the Precision Crafted Performance DNA of the Acura brand, and the 2017 MDX will integrate new styling elements and powertrain technology that takes us another step in that direction.

The New MDX supposedly will showcase new powertrain technology, additional luxury comfort and convenience features, and will have substantial design enhancements. This new breed of MDX will still be produced in the company’s Lincoln, Alabama automotive plant.

Before the artist rendering we were ready to skip the entire Acura lineup and dash straight for the Acura NSX (Which the first unit has sold for… HOW MUCH?!), but after seeing this teaser, we’d definitely gawk at what could be a totally badass looking SUV.

The 2016 New York International Auto Show will be open to the public between March 25th – April 3rd, however we’ll be there during the Press Days to give you the first inside scoop. Stay tuned!
