Acura Reveals NSX GT3

Something we have been following is Acura’s desire to go racing with the NSX. On Wednesday they made it official. They will be racing a GT3 spec NSX in 2017 in North America. The race bread NSX will feature the same 3.5 liter twin turbocharged V6, all be it beefed up for the demands for racing. Amazingly Acura will keep the block, heads and crank from the road going NSX. What won’t carry over from its street sibling is the Hybrid system. While hybrids are the future in GT racing it is very difficult to get the BoP correct utilizing the current system.

No word was given on what team or series would be running the NSX program. All we know is that it will debut in North America in 2017. Given that even long time Acura team RealTime Racing wasn’t mentioned means that Acura may be looking to use multiple teams in multiple series. It is a forgone conclusion that RealTime will run the NSX’s however there is a glimmer of hope that there will be more, specifically in IMSA.¬†Acura and its NSX at Daytona and Sebring?
