Haas Is Bringing The Stars And Stripes Back To F1

The F1 season starts this weekend. I think I’m looking forward to the start of this season more so than any in recent memory. It’s not because the competition is going to be fierce and wide open. It won’t, chances are Mercedes will once again be the team to beat. Ferrari may challenge the Mercs and then there is everyone else. No, it has nothing to do with the sharp end of the field. It has everything to do with national pride. Haas F1 becomes the first American F1 team in 30 years. And they’re doing it in the most American way possible. A blend of multiple cultures Italy provides the technical partnership in the form of Ferrari and Dallara. The drivers hail from France and Mexico. It is all brought together in North Carolina, in the heart of NASCAR country. I’m not kidding myself, I know it will be tough for Haas, the new boys to score points, let alone compete for podiums. However, for the first time in a long time we as Americans can watch F1 and truly feel a part of it. Haas, as is seemingly required these days, has released they’re 2016 hype video.

When not online writing for Shifting Lanes, you can find him working at the local golf course teaching people how to swing or hooning a golf cart at impossible speeds.
