Quick, off the top of your head tell me what is the fastest EV? Surely the Tesla Model S Model P90D with Ludicrous mode is a contender. Zero to 60 only takes 2.8 seconds and it will go on to a top speed of 155 mph. But shockingly enough this isn’t the fastest EV out there. That crown belongs to a Corvette. Wait what??? A Corvette? The Corvette has built an entire brand off of burning explosive liquids to reach it’s top speeds. So what in the world is going on here? It’s called the Genovation eXtreme Electric (GXE) and it started out in life as a 2006 Corvette Z06. They took out the V8 and threw in an advanced battery management system with electric motors and inverters. The Motor produces more than 700 horsepower and 600 ft/lbs torque. It has a range of 124 miles. In addition the GXE uses a six speed manual transmission. This is all very strange and confusing, but the end result is a top speed of 186.8 mph. As you will see in the video below, the speed was verified by the International Mile Racing Association. The crazy thing is they say there is more in it. So after they go off and analyze data and do nerd things it could be even faster! Want one? That will set you back $335,000. Hardly a small chunk of change for a car that is from 2006. However, this is the Bugatti Veryon of EVs so when you compare it to the price of the Bug it is practically a bargain.
So sit back and enjoy a very strange Corvette going very fast.
