Nico Rosberg Inks 2 Year Contract Extension With Mercedes

All those Rumors that were started yesterday by Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner seem to be holding a little less weight today. Horner had said that Sebastian Vettel might jump ship from Ferrari and head to Mercedes should the Ferrari struggles continue. This of course could happen in 2018, but now it would mean that Lewis Hamilton would have to leave Mercedes.

Nico Rosberg has just inked a fresh deal with Mercedes for 2 years. Nico, the championship leader, will stay with the team through the 2018 season. When that contract is up, that will make him an 8 year veteran with the same team. He’d better win at least one championship or else Mercedes will undoubtedly give him the proverbial boot after that.

This now means that Hamilton and Rosberg are set to remain teammates for the next two years. And we all know that means more inter-team rivalry. That’s a good thing for the sport.

Congrats to Nico and congrats to the fans as this is sure to be interesting.
