Bryce Menzies Jumps His Trophy Truck Over A New Mexico Ghost Town

You ever walk through one of those old Wild West towns and think, “I should take my Truck and try to jump over the entire town.” No? Me either. However that didn’t stop Red Bull and their Trophy Truck Driver Bryce Menzies from doing exactly that. Naturally you need to name such a feat of awesome lunacy, so they called it “Bryce Menzies New Frontier powered by Pennzoil® Synthetics.” The team involved spent 6 months preparing for the jump. They modified the truck’s suspension, and the aero to make certain the truck was as aerodynamic as possible. They tested the truck at a top-secret testing facility in San Diego.

So why go through all the trouble? Well 1, because it’s there and we must know these things. 2, because it is a creative way of setting a world record. They even went as far as to have an adjudicator for Guinness World Records on-site to verify the distance and authenticate the new record. The official record was 301 feet, and the unofficial distance was 332 feet. Just to be safe Menzies jumped his Pro 2 Trophy Truck 379 feet.

And just in case you were itching to go behind the scenes, Red Bull has kindly offered up a look at what went in to the world record jump.
