Cadillac’s 2017 Prototype Racecar Spied

The 2017 Dallara LMP2 contender was spied by motorsports publication, Autosprint. Dallara chassis will make the base for Cadillac’s return to prototype racing in 2017. Dallara becomes the 2nd marque to unveil its 2017 contender after Ligier publicly revealed its JS P217 last month at Spa-Francorchamps. While the car in question was spotted in its stock WEC trim with the Spec Gibson V8, it is understood that the car has already been tested using the Cadillac V8.

It is believed that all DPi teams are in some form of testing, no official DPi cars have been revealed as of yet. We know Cadillac will be taking the wraps off of their DPi car at next month’s LA Auto Show. No word on when Mazda or Nissan will unveil theirs.

The Cadillac Northstar LMP 02 was unveiled at Sebring, Fla., Tuesday (1/15/02). The all-new LMP will compete in the 2002 Alms and the 24-Hours of Le Mans in France.
The Cadillac Northstar LMP 02 raced in the ALMS as well as at Le Mans.

This is hardly Cadillac’s first foray into prototype racing. Back in the early 2000’s Cadillac actually ran in the LMP900 class in the American Le Mans Series with lest than spectacular results. Then again most people had less success then they would have liked given Audi’s dominance over the decade+.
