Jeff Gordon’s Rolex 24 IMSA Teammate Is A Huge Jeff Gordon Fan

Jordan Taylor is quickly rising up the ranks of my favorite race car drivers. He has finished on the podium at Le Mans while also rocking a mullet, he kicks ass on the go kart track, and now this.

This past weekend saw the annual Roar Before The 24 IMSA Test. This is the last official IMSA test for all teams hoping to race in the 24. Jordan, who drives his father’s Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi V.R decided to have a little fun with his new teammate. Razzing the new boy is a rite of passage in just about every form of sport. However in this case the new boy just happens to be 4 time Champ and NASCAR legend, Jeff Gordon. Gordon will be joining Jordan, his brother Ricky Taylor and Max Angelelli in the Cadillac Prototype for the Daytona 24 later this month.

What you got to love about Jordan is he keeps things loose. He is a phenomenal racer (he has a GTE-Pro class victory at Le Mans), but he is not afraid to joke around. Perfect example of this was Friday during the test he dressed up as a retro Jeff Gordon. Jordon donned a Dupont jacket and Gordon’s 90’s style mustache in an attempt to get a selfie with the NASCAR legend.

Unfortunately for Jordan things didn’t go exactly to plan as Gordon quickly recognized him.

“I had that idea as soon as I found out he was driving with us that I wanted to come up to him as a super fan,” Taylor said. “I figured he’d see that a million times and I’d blend in with the crowd. But he saw it coming and it kind of ruined my day!”

Don’t ever stop trying Jordan. Maybe you’ll get ’em next time.
