These Six Mind Blowing Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am Shooting Brake Concepts Were Never Made, But We Wish They Were

Shooting brake concepts are nothing new to the automotive world. Enthusiasts love them, many people hate them, but they always get a rise from people in some way. When companies do these one offs, I personally wish they would make them. Alas, that is usually not the case.

Stretching all the way back to the 1970s, Pontiac was creating some wild shooting brake concepts. However, they did not use a sedan for that. No, they used their muscle car of the day, the Firebird/Trans Am. These cars were insanely popular through the 70s and 80s, but producing somthing like this might have given them a completely utilitarian variant which many may have hated. Originally called the “Type K Concept,” these shooting brakes morphed throughout the years and got more and more wild. They culminated with the seriously awesome Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am Hurst Hauler Wagon, made in 2000.

I, for one, am not happy they never made these, but maybe it’s good they stayed as concept cars. Maybe this would have torpedoed Pontiac far sooner.

What do you think? Love them? Hate them? Let me hear it in the comments.
