This Is The Demon: 840 Horsepower and A 9.65-second Quarter Mile

The Dodge Demon is finally here. After years of teasers and speculation, we can finally review the hard facts behind Dodge’s maddest machine. The Dodge Demon features some impressive technology, made specifically for drag cars. This highly customizable drag strip monster is finally here in all its glory.

The 840 horsepower V8 is the most powerful production V8 in history. It’s force-fed air from a 2.7L supercharger and produces peak boost of 14.5psi.  Maximum boost is reached within 6 feet of the starting line for a mind numbing 9.65-second quarter mile. This impressive time is certified by the NHRA so there’s no disputing Dodges claim.

On launch, drivers will experience 1.8Gs as they rocket from 0-60 in 2.3 seconds. The V8 produces a massive 770 lb-ft of torque to launch the Demon to 100 miles per hour in only 5.1 seconds. Traction is aided by massive rear tires and Dodges clever launch control system that can build boost in the supercharger by cutting timing to individual cylinders.

The Demon is far more than a Hellcat with a body kit and more horsepower. It’s the customizable track car for those passionate about the drag strip. Dodge will charge you for rear seats and allow you to change just about anything to suit your needs. This car’s impressive performance on the track is even better when you can drive home after.

The Dodge Demon is the perfect American take on a gentleman racer. You can show up with you drag car to a race. Dominate this race, then drive home in your race car and even drive to work. The Demon is a genuine engineering effort by Dodge and I can’t wait to get my hands on one.
