Brake Checking Cop Under Investigation

Tailgaters suck, but brake checkers suck even more. What’s worse is when a COP brake checks you. A cop was caught on a dash cam video brake-checking a motorist in Clifton, New Jersey. The cop immediately got out of the vehicle and questioned the driver asking “How close are you going to drive behind me?” The cop proceeded to lecture the driver about the proper following distance for 10-20 mph driving. When the driver asked why the cop did what he did, the response is just downright ridiculous.

Now the driver has to make a court appearance for his three tickets: No license plate, Tailgating, and Tinted Windows. However, this cop is not getting off scot free as he is now under Internal Affairs investigation. Sergeant Robert Bracken, a spokesperson for the Clifton police department confirmed the exchange but stated:

The Clifton Police Department is aware of the incident, Internal Affairs matters are confidential, therefore, we will not be commenting on the incident at this time.

We hope the driver can redeem himself when the case goes to trial, as this instance looks like an egregious abuse of power. It must have been that time of the month where the police department has to meet their quotas. This is just one more reason to have a dash cam, amongst the already too many reasons.
