Watching the Fast and The Furious movie franchise is like watching a guy getting kicked in the nuts: It’s not really a good form of entertainment and we typically know how it’s going to end, but we watch it anyway because we just have to. Now we’re presented with another opportunity to witness more ball-kicking with ‘Furious 8’, the eighth iteration of the underground-street-racing-crew-turned-international-crime-drug-terrorist-busting-film.
Vin Diesel just uploaded a poster of the upcoming film to his Facebook page. “New Roads Ahead,” it states above “Furious 8,” suggesting they’ve run out of things to launch cars out of and are looking for “New Roads.” The poster is of a lone Vin Diesel posing in front of his usual 1969 Dodge Charger.
We’re ashamed to say it but we’re excited for this film. We’re excited primarily for the cars but also because movie 9 and movie 10 will be planned simultaneously to create a final trilogy. We never expect a good story behind these movies, but the thought of a trilogy creates hope for a proper beginning, middle, and end. It’s a recipe that can be a success, and one that will allow for more interesting storytelling that can be delivered in a longer form factor.
Who are we kidding, this film will be awesomely bad, which is the best kind of terrible.
