After we reported a few months ago that you could buy one of Hurley Haywood’s insane race cars, you guys were flabbergasted at the cost. This one should send your head spinning then.
For those of you that don’t know, Ari Vatanen is an absolute rally legend. Some of his videos are the stuff that you wish you could do in real life and only hope to recreate in video games. Even then it’s extremely difficult. Vatanen had a mastery of car feel around a loose surface and it showed by winning the World Rally Championship drivers’ title in 1981 and the Paris Dakar Rally four times.
Man of his wins came in a Peugeot 206 T16, a car just as, if not more, iconic than the man himself. And now you can own it.
This is the real deal, a fire-breathing Group B rally car that actually won the 1985 Rallye Monte-Carlo can be yours for the right price.
Needless to say that this is a very rare and special moment for collectors and rally fans, as this is not only one of the 20 works Evolution 1 cars, but one that’s also driven by Ari Vatanen himself to first position in two races, including the 1985 Swedish Rally.
Powered by a 345hp turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, this Peugeot 205 T16 is unrestored and in totally original condition, retaining even all the stickers and tires from the day it left Peugeot Talbot Sport 30 years ago.
This car is supposedly looking to fetch north of $1 million. Who’s in for a group buy?
