The Boys have a new website called Drivetribe. In case you haven’t heard of it, it’s a site where anyone can be the leader of a tribe, representing very niche aspects of the automotive realm. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have gone to Facebook to try to explain what Drivetribe exactly is, and the jury is still out whether it will be a website success or a major flop. Regardless, the old Top Gear trio has garnered so many millions from investors like Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox, Breyer Capital, Atomico, and others.
To further explain what Drivetribe will be, they’ve once again gone to Facebook to give an example of a potential tribe: Russian Tire Stretching.
We agree with the trio here that Tire stretching is just a bad idea. Not only is it dangerous to drive on but it is also an inefficient way to drive a car. However, people do it anyway because they think it looks cool, and in the spirit of loving niche aspects of the automotive realm, it totally deserves a spot within Drivetribe. In case you need an explanation why Tire Stretching is a terrible idea, Jason Fenske from Engineering Explained gives a detailed look into why it is bad.
