What you’re seeing is not only the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, it’s also the slow trickle of Demon web teasers that feel a bit like water torture. This week’s video titled “Body” showcases the Challenger SRT Demon’s FAAAATTTTT tires and wider body. According to Road And Track, the Demon will possess 315/40R18 Nitto NT05Rs for both the front and rear axles.
That gives the Demon the title of widest front tire on any production car, and makes swapping in a fresh set of tires as easy as rotating the fronts to the back once you’ve burned through the rears. With 18-by-11-inch lightweight wheels, this thing is wide, necessitating fender flares that add a full 3.5 inches to the overall width of the car. And we suspect the Demon will require bespoke brakes to fit behind those 18-inch wheels—the rest of the Challenger family rides on 20s.
I guess we can say goodbye to our All-Wheel Drive guesstimate for the Demon, as the video suggest it’ll happily do burnouts, something AWD cars aren’t really happy with. Meanwhile, even the massive Nitto tires has a little demon on its sidewall. Seems like both Dodge and Nitto doesn’t mess around…
We’ll be sure to keep on the lookout for the next drip of Demon web teasers. At this point, we might be looking at the ultimate Dodge that’s available for production.
