The 5 Biggest Celebrity Gear Heads

When you think of gear heads, or petrol heads, who do you think of? Your friends maybe? Possibly your dad who may have taught you to love cars? Maybe you think of mechanics who relentlessly tweak everything that rolls into their shop? You should also consider celebrities.

Cool cars and celebrities are pretty much synonymous these days. You have tons of money and are also very famous, you’re likely going to own and operate some of the greatest cars ever made. But who would you say at the biggest gear head celebrities out there? Well, we’re here to answer that question.

So here’s the definitive list of the top 5 biggest celebrity gear heads.

1) Jay Leno

As if this wasn’t already predetermined. Leno is one of the biggest gear heads on the planet, celebrity or otherwise. His car collection is ridiculous and legendary. He’s even got his own show about cars that started on YouTube and is now on TV.

Collection highlights: 1969 Lamborghini Miura S, McLaren F1 & P1, Chrysler Tank Car, a bevy of Lamborghinis, EcoJet.

2) Jerry Seinfeld

Seinfeld’s claim to automotive fame is the fact that he owns more Porsches that pretty much anybody. I think he owns Porsche at this point. He famously bought a building in NYC just to house them all. And he drives them too, they don’t just sit there. Awesome.

Highlights: $15 million worth of cars, mostly all Porsches including a 959, race cars from all eras, and a Carerra GT.

3) Vin Diesel

The Fast & Furious star got the bug far sooner than when he became Dominic Toretto, but I’m sure that helped. Ever since he was in the first F&F of the massive global franchise, he’s amassed an impressive collection.

Highlights: 1993 Mazda RX7 (of course), 1970 Dodge Charger RT, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, 2009 Subaru WRX STI, 2010 BMW E60 M5

4) Rowan Atkinson

Yes, Mr. Bean is a massive gear head. Not only has he owned one of the greatest cars of all time in the McLaren F1, but his car collection is vast and historic. And that McLaren F1 was no garage queen, he sold it with over 40,000 miles on the clock and a full rebuild after he crashed it!

Highlights: McLaren F1, Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato, Acura NSX, Aston Martin DB2, 1939 BMW 328.

5) Tim Allen

The tool man is a mega car nut and even wrenches and builds his own cars. He even had to buiild and re-build his 1933 Ford Roadster when he stared in Home Improvement for continuity in the show.

Highlights: Ford RS200, 1962 Chevrolet 409 Bel Air, 1933 Ford Roadster, Karmann Ghia.
