Next up in our countdown of our favorite old Top Gear episodes, when some random guys hosted it that no body knew (kidding of course), is an episode that many consider as the jumping point for all of their crazy adventures and much of the format of shows to come.
Back in season (or series) 4 of the Clarkson, Hammond, and May version of Top Gear, the boys and the producers hatched an idea about cheap, usable cars. See back when this challenge was filmed, you could get to Manchester and back for around £100. So they thought, “can you buy a car, run it there and back, and still be better off money wise than a trip on the train.” In short, yes, and you’d still have a car to show for it.
But what happened next is the stuff of Top Gear history as they set about challenging their cars and themselves in one of the very first challenges. This is where all the fun started.
