The Nürburgring has been nicknamed The Green Hell because it is one of the most dangerous race tracks ever known to man. There’s a ton of videos and news on the internet of various cars doing their best and wiping out terribly, again, and again, and again, and again, and again… But what all of these crashes have in common is that they could have ended much worse had it not been for the safety features in their cars. It’s easy to take modern day car features, like airbags, tempered glass, seat-belts, etc. for granted. And one can only wonder what car crashes would have been like without these safety measures in place.
Well thanks to the Internet, a compilation of cars from the 1970’s racing around the Nürburgring AND crashing has been unearthed. Let’s just say this is one of the scariest and most cringeworthy videos of crashes on the Nürburgring, and it proves how far we’ve come in terms of automotive engineering and safety. The amount of rollovers from poor suspension, high centers of gravity, and perhaps terrible driving, is quite high. And the amount of people getting ejected from their cars makes you want to stop driving all together. You’ve been warned!
