Forget the Corvette Stingray, Ignore the gorgeous Corvette Grand Sport, and who cares about the Z06? The King Of The Hill is the ZR1 and the C7’s take on the cream of the crop Corvette has just been spotted. And Boy! does that wing look gigantic?!
The footage suggests that the last front engine Corvette ZR1 (if the rumors are true about the C8 going to mid-engine platform) will most likely improve upon the existing supercharged LT4 small block, that’s found in the Corvette Z06. The video suggests that the front fascia is going to undergo some massive mouth implants, as it possess an extremely gaping maw. While the front track seems to have received extra girth, as witnessed by the widened fender flares over and aft of the front axle.
The top of the line ZR1 will most likely cost a lot more than its C6 version, which dialed in at $120,000 in 2010 dollars. We should still expect a relative performance bargain at their price given the other greater-than-700-horsepower players like the Ferrari F12tdf, Lamborghini Aventador, Pagani Huayra, Porsche 918, McLaren P1, and Ferrari LaFerrari.
Regardless, the American two-door front engine sports car competition looks awful lonely, now that the Dodge Viper is exiting stage right, but it doesn’t look like General Motors have noticed. And that means a big win for us.
