The World Rally Blue Pearl and Gold look that we’re so accustomed to seeing back in the 90s and 2000s, blasting through heavily wooded dirt roads, on Playstations, leaving clouds of dust and dirt in our minds and hearts, is finally coming back!
Today, Subaru of America Inc. unveiled the iconic gold star cluster on its WRX STI, built by Vermont SportsCar, that will be competing in the new Americas Rallycross championship. The “all-new” look is a return to the “Comet” design that was made famous by Richard Burns and Petter Solberg’s Imprezas.
According to Alan Bethke, Vice President of Marketing for Subaru of America, “These colors are part of our brand’s history, and beloved by our enthusiasts. For a generation of rally fans, Subaru is synonymous with blue cars, gold wheels and the iconic star cluster.”
We have a WRB Subaru BRZ AND with gold wheels ourselves! We agree that this is one sick looking color combination and we’re excited that Subaru Motorsports is bringing it back!
Look for the new design to officially debut on January 14th at the 2019 North American International Auto Show, the last Detroit Auto Show that is occurring in the cold January winter. We’ll be covering more of this sweet retro WRB STI when it goes live.
